chad shields, andy scholl, and myself spent a beautiful saturday riding around mt rainier national park.
we rode for 45 miles to the top of two summits for a total of about 5,000 ft of climbing. our first climb was 14 miles of riding up 2,959 feet to the top of sunrise. after a fast descent back down to the starting point we went the other direction and climbed 1,964 feet to the top of chinook pass. it was a gorgeous day with wonderful views.
getting ready at the car. filling up with plenty of liquids and food.
chad arriving to the top of sunrise.
stretching and resting at the top.
andy visiting with a guy we passed on the way up. he was in sixties and out tearing it up. he had already biked to the top of chinook pass where we were going next. his day was over and he told us he was heading down to the car for a beer.
the three stooges at the top of sunrise with mt rainier in the background.
chad and i starting our descent back down.
the view was to nice and the climb to hard to not stop and pose for some pictures.
andy wondering why i cant take a picture without blocking the lense.
it's hard to ride and take pictures. but i managed a self portrait when i got to the summit of chinook pass. i was hoping the picture would capture the suffering that went into the climb but i don't appear to distressed. must be the quality camera.
andy arriving at the summit of chinook pass.
andy at the summit looking pretty fresh.
we took some time to take in the views before heading back down to the car and back home.
a great day of riding.
